MB StringsAttention THIRD GRADERS: Want to learn to play a string instrument? MB Strings offers STRINGS INFORMATION & RENTAL NIGHT (for parents and students)
Location: Manhattan Beach Middle School Gym
Music stores will be at MBMS with instruments and class supplies for rent and purchase -- bring your checkbook. WHAT IS STRINGS CLASS? Students will explore music and learn to play an instrument of their choice. The instruments offered are violin, viola, and cello. Mr. Mollick will be visiting classes in the first few weeks of school to introduce the instruments to students. Once a student has chosen an instrument, their parents should plan to attend the information meeting on Thursday, September it (see above). We will have class one time per week for 45 minutes during the school day. Students will not miss any academic classes if they participate in strings. Strings students will have the opportunity to play in concerts throughout the year. We will perform at the strings festival in February, a concert for our school in March. and an end-of-the-year concert in June! In the fourth grade, strings students will have the opportunity to try out for Honor Strings, which takes a trip to Knott's Berry Farm and performs annually in downtown Manhattan Beach! WHAT DO WE NEED FOR CLASS?
A word of caution: Please do not order instruments from eBay or other internet sites which offer great ‘bargains.' Almost all the instruments I have played from online are difficult to play, sound terrible, and do no: stay in tune. Use one of our local music stores instead (who carefully select quality instruments). There are a limited number of school owned instruments that students may use. These are reserved only for families with financial constraints. Send me an email (see below) to request use of a school instrument. WHEN DO WE NEED TO BRING OUR INSTRUMENTS?
If your child is interested in strings, please fill out the appropriate music class registration form and return to your classroom teacher as soon as possible!
